Tri-Rated Cable

Tri Rated cables are high-temperature cables for use within the industrial electrical installations such as control panels and instrumentation panels. We hold stock in a variety of colours and core sizes up to 240mm2. The UL and CSA certification on these wires enables their use in equipment destined for the North American market as well as the European market.

These cables can be supplied on reels, boxed or in barrels.

Def Stan Cable

Defence Standards Cables (Def Stan) were originally used by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in applications which require high-density wiring. Usually within instruments to connect electronic equipment. It is now widely used within many industries as it is compact, has a range of sizes for most applications and a high working voltage. It is now used for a variety of applications in heavy industrial environments, avionic control systems, computer and data processing.

Tinsel wire is a low voltage electrical wire for application when high mechanical flexibility is required. It is commonly found in cords used for telephones, especially handset cords, and in headphones.

Arctic Grade cables are commonly used on construction sites and other outdoor applications for temporary power supplies, and in some indoor applications such as cold stores.

Range

The arctic grade cable features plain annealed flexible copper conductors, a PVC insulation, low temperature PVC outer sheath and is available in a variety of colours (typically blue or yellow) and sizes.

The temperature range for these cables is -40°C to +70°C and have a minimum bending radius of 6 x the overall diameter.

A shielded/screened cable is an electrical cable of one or more insulated conductors enclosed by a common conductive layer. The shield may be composed of braided strands of copper (or other metal, such as aluminium), a non-braided spiral winding of copper tape, or a layer of conducting polymer.

Screening can be applied for mechanical, electrical and magnetic protection to improve the performance of the cable in certain applications where such screening is required….

Low Smoke Zero Halogen cables are as the name suggests ‘Halogen Free’ but still have excellent flame resistance and produce very little smoke. In addition these cables fully comply with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

Abbreviations for these types of cables include LSZH, LSOH and LSFH.
